This A6 is a 3.0 TDI Quattro S-Line, so lots of stuff that once cluttered the hatch. I would have kept the rings, though.

Now it just reminds me of this:

And yes, I am used car shopping again. Tonight’s mishap might just be the excuse to pull the trigger a little early.

My current favourite is this one, but it is 700 kms away. Let’s hope it won’t sell until christmas, when I’m in the south again.

I’m for removing all the badges except the brand one (or model one, like a Mustang). Makes it look cleaner.

On newer cars, I like debadging the model name, engine displacement, or whatever else, but I think all logos (in this case, the 4 rings) should remain.

If the badging is excessive, take it off ... so what sort of car do you want?

I like removed dealer badges on new cars, but once the car is more than 25 years old or so I actually like seeing the dealer badge. I don’t mind de-cluttering tailgates, but removing the brand badge looks weird to me

Sometimes de-badging cleans up clutter...

Sometimes it just makes it look like knockoff parts were installed...

When people asked me ages ago what car I would buy once I was settled in a well paying job, I always said “black 5-series wagon”.

Click the link on the bottom of my post, it’s the perfect mix of using depreciation but still getting a vehicle that can be reliable for a couple of years.

Everything but the brand badge on the front and back. All the rest can go. Makes polishing and waxing easier, and looks cleaner.

debadging, is fun, like down-badging to smaller non-performance derivatives of what you are driving. it is very nice to sometimes just be left alone at stoplights. i even put old wood rail bed stakes, to make it look slower, so i would have fewer people wanting to race it.........

My brain tells me a debadged car is one that’s been repainted or repaired. Not likely the case, but makes me think the car has had it’s “seal broken” like it’s not in mint shape anymore. Basically for resale I think it’ll hurt chsnces of selling.

Unless it’s a GM or Mini, and you are “saving” the emblems from disintegrating so you can put them back on later when you sell it lol.

Agree with you, I’d leave the brand but take away the rest

Tell me more about these disintegrating Mini badges...

I have an 02 and the black parts of the front and back badges have partially peeled off or faded. Is this a common Mini thing? I never thought twice about it.

I don’t like debadging. At most, silly excessive badges beyond the make and model. Removing the model badge is annoying and removing the make badge is just... Strange.

The 2.3L, SE, etc badges though are much less important.

Yeah. I had an R53 cooper S this summer, emblems were both terrible, but previous owner said he thought the center exhaust didn’t help. I bought new ones for it and just did a full replacement since the rest of the car was really nice looking.

Ah mine is an S as well - I woulda never thought about the center exit exhaust affecting the logo.

Did you just get the Mini this year and sell it already??

It was just a flip, that’s why I put the emblems on. Got $5500 for it, emblems really made it look fresh. I only had it for about 6 weeks.

Getting rid of excessive model designations and stuff is fine by me, but I would keep the logos and model names.

De-badging is one of those things people do to show off, not realizing no one cares.

I would definitely consider removing model and trim designation badges, but I would NEVER remove a car’s brand emblem.
